Your letting a few bad apples spoil your entire assessment. Unions are like guns, people make them bad, there existence is not bad.
The Northern States that do not have "right to work" laws, I would tend to agree with you that some Unions have brought a bad name on themselves in that environment. I do not believe a labor Union should be able to have dominant power over an industry. Down here in the south where Unions must openly compete in a right to work environment, it is a whole other story. So comparing a Union in Texas versus a Union in New York is like comparing apples to oranges.
Calling all Unions bad however is narrow minded.
