Interesting comment, I didn't realize my assumptions had changed any. "Spiraling out of control" would define a situation in which an instance is rapidly changing and becoming unstable as a result. I didn't realize my opinions had changed or morphed. I believe the concept was simple. Americans, on average, are stupid.

As for being petty.. I guess that is a point of view.
