if this is all a set up and shorters/others have it out for the, they probably flooded the SEC with complaints along with a bunch of bitter shareholders.

It's not. You think the SEC informs companies about formal investigations without doing some serious preliminary work?

The SEC gets lots of complaints. They don't act on the strength of what people who may have interests of their own tell them.
