CHIP GIANT INTEL said it had licensed Rambus' serial link Raser technology to use in Ethernet network products. Raser 1-3.125 Gbps technology allows for physical layer interface cells which can be inclued in integrated network controller chips.
Rambus claims it already has licensed Raser technology for Gigiabit Ethernet, Infiniband technology, network equipment and other products.
The news sent Rambus' share price up yesterday to close at $.57.
In addition to this deal, Intel and Rambus have a complex cross licensing agreement for technology, much of which remains secret. µ
