Your serious right? You really believe that? That 1% have hired armies of lawyers, lobbyists and special interest groups to make sure we have laws in this country that continue to make them rich.
Did you know average people pay a higher percentage of their total income in taxes than the "elite" rich do? The when someone suggest raising taxes on those individuals, which still wouldn't bring it to the percent average people pay, we start hearing people scream socialism? huh? Can't anyone do math?
What is so laughable is the very people who scream "socialism" the loudest are the very same people who are getting screwed by the system the most. Yep, the top 1% through special interest and lobbying money have spread their propaganda to the very idiots who will believe it most.. the Religious right.
What better group to market too, they will believe anything if the word God or Jesus is mentioned in the same sentence. Don't Elect the smart guy because he is "pro-choice".
At some point America became full of stupid people and the 1% are sapping them for everything they can. IF you call that working their "Azz off"... then yes.. for the last two decades they have done a damn fine job.
