At the end of the 1987 come a news that 5 "unknown" under the name of the TRAVELING WILBURYS, all playing Guitars, will edit his first album under the label WB, their names were: CHARLIE T. JNR, LEFTY, NELSON, LUCKY y OTIS WILBURY. This was their began, in 1988 arrived VOLUME 1 (Double Platinum) and we found the surprise the the "unknown" were: CHARLIE T. JNR (TOM PETTY), LEFTY (ROY ORBISON), NELSON (GEORGE HARRISON), LUCKY (BOB DYLAN) and OTIS (JEFF LYNNE). The original idea began when JEFF LYNNE and GEORGE HARRISON, decided to have a good time and they need to obtain a song for the B side of Got My Mind Set On You for present it into Europe. They created a story about a band formed by friends with a long trajectory (at this moment born the Wilbury family).
They called to their friends by phone, the first was BOB DYLAN (George's old friend of The Beatles's time), his answer was OK, and later, they join and began to told a lot of crazy names for make the group. The following friend was TOM PETTY, he come to the reunion and formed part of the "reunion", but they need an old man for this story and all together said this name ROY ORBISON. When Roy arrived to the reunion and after talked a lot of time, the name of the group come and the super group was called TRAVELING WILBURYS. After to know the way to follow, JEFF need help to DAVE STEWART if they could recorder the jam session produced the last night at the Stewart's studio in Los Angeles, obviously the answer was yes, after this, they made reality a joke and at the end they created a new group.
Through HARRISON had access to WARNER Bros. with their demo with the colaboration for the final cut featured JIM KELTNER (Drums), JIM HORN (Sax) and RAY COOPER (Percussion). VOLUME 1, saw the ligh in 1988, with the following singles: HANDLE WITH CARE and END OF THE LINE, Handle With Care originally was the track that George needed for the B side of a Cloud Nine's song, but this was rejected for this project and was the first single for Traveling Wilburys. After the greatest hit with this single and all the recorder and the creation of the videos for support the album, happen something unexpected, ROY ORBISON died in December of 1988 for a heart attack, this made a big frustration for the members, but after two years TW come back again to the scene with a new album, called VOLUME 3 in 1990.
This album haven't the same repercussion like the other album. Volume 3 also had 2 singles: SHE'S MY BABY and WILBURY TWIST. Also this year TW collaborated with one track for the Romanian refugee, like charity, the song was NOBODY'S CHILD. At now, we still waiting their third album, for say goodbye to the millenium, I don't know if it would be call Volume 5, but the work as soon as possible will be the light.
