There doesn't look to be any additional hardware. If anything it looks to be where they can eliminate some hardware. Any addition machining would be done in a manufacturing environment with mass production in which any additional cost would be minimal. It's a smart design. Any additional costs your talking about would be pennies on a unit.
As a man who used to install cabinetry I can see another benefit to the installer. Many times units are damaged in shipment. You get one little scratch or dent here or there and you have to order and ship a whole new unit. With this you go ahead and install it and order a new panel. Saves on time and labor costs. If it is atractive to contractors they will sell it to their customers.
