I have never ran an AntiVirus program.

Obviously, I don't recommend this to others. Just my preference.

People make viruses out to be something that is easy to get. But with a little common sense, you won't get touched by one.

Common sense:
1) Always read the msg before opening an attachment. If it sounds odd, then it probably is!
2) Don't open any attachments that have odd extensions .idz, .i anything. And be *very* careful about EXE programs. Nobody I know ever seends me EXE programs.
3) Generally, the only thing I get via attachments is .doc files and image files. Anything else, I don't open.
4) Another way is, that, when you pull down to view the attachment via Outlook, Windows should associate the filetype to a normal program (Word, IE, etc). If it doesn't and gives you an icon you have never seen before, DON'T OPEN IT.

Get educated on viruses. Sometimes, even with a virus scanner, you won't even realize you've gotten one, because you just opened a file, executed it, not paying attention. It only took me doing this one time in 1998 to figure it all out.

MB virus free since 1998
