Such a large short position in a companies stock is an asset in itself. Think about it. Someone could buy 99% of the entire float, then issue a tender for the remaining 1% shares and issue a dividend. The shorts then have to come for the shares. I was actually thinking this would be a good strategy in itself. Start a business, appear to be shaddy but take on no debt, and really not be shaddy behind the scenes. Then wait for the short position to grow, as it does in most OTCBB's, and then your entire business model behind the scenes revolves around blowing the shorts out. Say the business is a hostile investment fund or something.
