It is my understanding that the "meandering channel" actually applies to a fault line the runs through the JDZ, creating a trap for hydrocarbons along its path. "Meandering", in this context does not imply movement, but rather more of a wavy line as opposed to a straight line. It does not flow, like a river. The centerline of this fault is depicted in the map posted by LK, and hydrocarbons could be expected to accumlate on either or both sides of the line.
