When government fails the solution is ALWAYS two things A) Get Bigger and B)Need more money.

That is the point.

At least my understanding is that there had been issues raised about Madoff for years and no one bothered to dig deep enough to find it. Of course, it wasn't in anyones interest to do so. If you are on the govt payroll, why create work for yourself? If you catch the guy, you have to spend hours and hours working to prove your case. If you don't catch the guy, it was because you didn't have the resources to do so.

Yes, I am jealous because I don't have a government job....YET!
