(OTC.BB:PDOS - News) has received extensive industry media coverage since The Hollywood Reporter and Daily Variety reported the possibility that "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau would direct the DreamWorks Studios and Universal Studios feature film adaptation of Platinum's graphic novel "Cowboys & Aliens." Imagine Entertainment principals Brian Grazer and Ron Howard are producing with DreamWorks' Steven Spielberg and Platinum topper Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, writers of "Star Trek" and "Transformers," are producing, as well as writing the adaptation of the graphic novel with Damon Lindelof of "Lost." Kurtzman & Orci are also spearheading Platinum Studios' other high-concept comic adaptation, "Atlantis Rising," for DreamWorks.

Disney's announcement this week of their $4 Billion acquisition of Marvel, along with Warner Bros.' ownership of DC Comics, leaves Platinum Studios as one of the largest rights holders of exploitable comic book characters in the world which stands independent of any studio affiliation.

Universal, Sony, Disney and DreamWorks Studios are among the companies involved with Platinum Studios' comic-based projects.
