PR's always say, "you have to own it on the record date to get the split"

poster on amne board (believe it was whirly) when it went through its split came up with the best explanation I have seen yet.

"if you buy on or before the "record date" you get the right to the split shares from the company."

"if you buy after the "record date" but before the "exdate" you get the right to the split shares from who you buy from."
