This is where it took me years to "get it".

What word should they get out? The *ONLY* difference between the day after the PSC's were signed and now is time.Nothing else has changed.

Back then we were sitting on some outrageous rights for a company our size and we were years away from drilling results.

Right now we are sitting on some outrageous rights for a company our size and we are weeks away from drilling results.

To us the difference is massive, to investors the difference doesn't exist.

The real difference between the two is the difference between gamblers placing a bet and investors investing in assets. The former stand to make an absolute killing if the oil is there in commercial quantities, and the latter are perfectly content to wait until they can calculate the worth of the assets to judge whether it is worth their risk to invest.

The difference is as minuscule as it is huge, and by being both it is very hard to understand.

The gamblers (us) simply cannot fathom why the investors aren't buying on the eve of discovery.

The investors (those fools not buying) simply cannot fathom why we gamblers already bought without being able to calculate its worth.

It's a conundrum more complex than the Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus thing.
