You have to distinguish between a mobile bar code reader and the means by which NeoMedia's patents cover one of two methods (direct vs indirect) of deciphering a mobile bar code. Both the DM and QR codes are open source codes and are covered under NeoMedia's indirect patent for retreiving information from the internet from a camera cell phone. The EZ Code is a proprietay code owned by ScanBuy.
