I have been studying all morning looking for reasons to be long in stocks. I find no reason for the bullish tone in the last few days. Therefore, the most plausible explanation for why the market is going up is the fear of being left behind or of taking a big loss on a short position by people who control trillions in cash. These will be the same people that will dump and run in the next couple of months. Some companies are showing better results but that is only because they are creating more joblessness. When people lose their jobs there is an amplification of the fear factor. All people in a family are effected when one is in trouble. I was definitely affected when two of my neighbors lost their houses. When their properties are sold at a fire sale my property loses value and I become even more cautious.
