Hi all... Just a quick update to my activities in Abuja.
I've not finished my third week here for this trip, looks like I'll be here at least one more week to finish a few things.
Last night I had a meeting (5 hours worth) with the last guy that I've really needed to see, the contractor of the new facility.
The information that I got from him was amazing, he told me about working with Dr. Pandey and Colonel Pandey, then when Swift took over, when they brought in the consultant, when they decided to change everything, when they couldn't make up their minds on anything, when they tried to blame Dr. Pandey for a number of things, when they tried to blame him for a number of things and finally when the project just stopped.
The reason for the meeting was to find out what it was going to take to get him back out there to finish the work, leading to a discussion of how he's had to keep guys on site all this time or he would have been considered to have abandoned the project. So for the last year and a half he's been paying guys (I don't know how many, I didn't ask) to sit at Sheda and do basically nothing (I asked if he needed any help on that project, I need a job...).
He's going to provide me some information for the proposal so I can amend it and a letter of support, more importantly, he might help us come up with the funding we need...
Keep the faith folks, this is going to be an interesting week! I've told NEXIM that I fully expect to get the keys to the door on a NEXIM keyring, they've said they'll see what they can do...
