welcome to the world of pinky finance. These companies are so dirty sometimes.

They sell preferred stock at that price. Sure you are correct. What you are forgetting is that in addition to buying the shares at .05 or .10 they also get tons of shares at .001.

Also, these companies arent always buying this stock. Frequently they are forgiving debt that they may not think they can collect.
