Maybe people sell at the bid because they dont feel like sitting there putting orders in at the ask and waiting waiting waiting for them to get filled. If you feel a stock is dropping, your likely not to get filled at the ask.

I tried to flip half my shares earlier but didnt want to sell at the bid, had to change my order like 4 times as the ask and bid kept dropping. Eventually I just cancelled it because it got as low as I figured it would. If I would have just sold at the bid in the first place I would have been fine. Could have sold and then bought back in for more shares.
