I have already tried this - cleaning my smooth top with WC. As a daily cleaner it works just fine (cleans up stainless steel like a champ too), but it can't really touch the burnt on stuff. (I hate to say that WC can't take off a certain stain/mess).
But to clean your burnt on stuff on the stove top; take a dishrag/paper towel and soak it really good. Place it on your spot on your stove and leave it overnight. Next morning, use baking soda and scour your stain with it. Works good and eco-friendly too. :)
