Hard to believe that N.Korean explosion could be a nuke blast. Nukes are easy to spot because of the x-ray and gamma flash and subsequent radioactive fallout. There is a large satellite system monitoring both, so we will know the exact moment WW111 occurred <ng>. Neither of course happens with a conventional accident.

On the other hand these days who knows what is going on? The Chinese sold their weapons designs to just about anyone so just about anyone with the industrial infrastructure and fissionables can make one. It is a matter of public record that South African had 4.

My guess is an ammo dump or industrial mishap. Either way it speaks ill of the North Korean's ability to run even a 1940's style industrial state. My main quarrel with communism is that it simply, provably didn't work. These days we might as well let the few remaining like Castro wallow in the basement with a micky mouse system that went nowhere.
