Russia Says Could Strike 'Terrorist' Bases Anywhere

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia is prepared to launch pre-emptive strikes on bases used for training militants anywhere in the world, a senior general was quoted as saying on Wednesday.
"As for launching pre-emptive strikes on terrorist bases, we will carry out all measures to liquidate terrorist bases in any region of the world," General Yuri Baluevsky said, according to Russian news agencies. "However, this does not mean that we will launch nuclear strikes."

RUSSIA -- Russian President Vladimir Putin warned George W. Bush yesterday against unilateral action in Iraq, and suggested the U.S. President needs to keep a close eye on his allies, as well as his perceived foes, in the war on terrorism.
