I'm looking for a site that gives el Nino and la Nina cycles which list dates of the cycles. I found something the other day but can't find it again...
From what I could see, in years with El Nino Cycles, Tropical Storms/Hurricans, in general, didn't form until the beginning of August. They also tended to have less then 10 Tropical storms with about 1/2 or less turning to canes.
In years with La Nina Cycles, Tropical Storms/Hurricans, in general, formed storms as early as June and seemed to have 10 or more tropical storms with 1/2 or more turning to canes.
Although I'm not really to sure of how accurate the data for the El Nino/La Nina Cycles was.
There was no data for 2005 to present for ENSO on the site that I did find but I would almost bet that in 2005 it was a La Nina Cycle as there were 28 named storms of which 15 turned to hurricanes...
