Dicon Technologies, another company in Bryan County's Interstate Centre industrial park, was acquired by SpongeTech Delivery Systems in early July.
Dicon operates a 30,000-square-foot manufacturing plant and was in the news in late June when it was awarded $625,000 in state industrial development funds.
Dicon employs about 50 people in the Coastal Empire and manufactures a variety of sponge products.
SpongeTech, a publicly-held company, has most recently been advertising new sponges with built-in soap for car, child, home and pet care. SpongeTech acquired Dicon for $4.5 million, according to a July 9 SpongeTech news release.
