I would rather download/install an app, once, that will then enable me to simply pull up the app, read the code and get the info than have to take a pic of the code and send it "to a number" (What #? Would it always be the same #? Would it be different for different adds/items?). That's a much more manual process EVERY TIME I'd want to access their tags.
They then state that, "As a result, JAGTAG is the only viable 2D barcode solution in the United States.". That's a stretch and will be a mute point once barcode readers become pre-installed on all phones, which I think will happen in due time.
I will give it to them though...impressive PR but IMO, not an impressive way to implement 2D barcodes.
