I look at ERHC like a horserace. I bet big on ERHC due to her great bloodlines (JDZ/EEZ assets) even though she was so sickly at the time it looked like she would be dead long before the big race. Thanks to a new trainer/owner (EO) she made it to the starting gate looking like a champion (JDZ awards surprise). Lo and behold, just as she was breaking out of the starting gate the jockey bailed off her (Devon, Pioneer)and to our utter amazement there was another jockey (SNP, ADDAX) perched atop the starting gate and he jumped on her back so that she was still in the race. As she started gaining speed, the sky became black and great sheets of rain and lightning fell from the sky(office raid, investigations) causing her to slip in the mud and fall; surely this was the end of the race but surprisingly she leapt up and kept teetering toward the finish line, though falling behind dramatically (big price drop)and our hearts were filled with woe. Time seemed to drag on forever (waiting for rigs) and with the dark skies it was nearly impossible to see her or, for that matter, any ray of sunshine at the end of the race but she kept trying her best. She seemed to be picking up speed but then got kicked in the nose TWICE by the horse in second to last place (Aban Abraham - Redchip) causing another setback but she kept on coming! Finally, the race hit the final turn and a glorious ray of brilliant sunshine (Pathfinder-Sedco)broke through the gloom and showed her to have become beautiful somewhere in the gloom of the backstretch where nobody could see her (lack of mgt communications)and a great cheer went up in the IHUB section of the grandstands as she looked like she could really prove to be the champion we all knew she could ...

To be continued over the next 6 months

Moral: We have come a long way but we have the most important times still staring us in the face. Look at the finish line, don't worry about today and the shareprice now for the big prize is at the finish. It may mean we hit the OIL for the big prize, it may mean our owner sold her during the race to a major consortium for a wad of cash (with possible breeding rights down the line?), it may mean something else but we don't have to worry about each step the horse is taking because she has shown she is not a quitter and will be there in the end for us all.
