Very simple. They did not take out taxes in their PR. I think they should have. I emailed the company about this (the PR seemed implausibly high for an after-tax number) and was told that readers should have assumed it was pre-tax. Hopefully they will clarify this sort of thing in the future, because I think there are in fact many folks who did not pick up on this at the time.
