WLD, I have to agree with you on that one. Powell has been a major disillusionment. But John McCain can't be too far out of earshot. At least Powell and his personal family weren't maliciously smeared for mere political gain.

Are there any self-respecting Republicans left out there anywhere?

Even those who crow, "Boy, I'm glad Gore wasn't in charge on 9/11," ought to ask themselves if a McCain might not have been measurably better than GW Bush. Or whether Powell himself might not have been better, had he chosen to run. Why is the comparison always against Gore?

As it turned out, Bush just happened to be President on 9/11. That's no reason why he should still be President on the next 9/11.

The man is a fiscal disaster.
