The problem is that the stock and the company (Old GM) have no inherent value. The company is never again going to have sales or make any profits. Everyone now knows the stock will eventually be worthless and any gain to be made will have to be done on the stupidity of others. No one knows at this point when the stock will permanemtly stop trading and people are just buying and selling smoke.

It isn't even like a penny stock scam - there will be no PRs promising the moon and no CEO making wild claims for the future.
