What happened to my sister is a perfect example of why health care is so expensive. She was not a candidate for such invasive surgery and as a result she got cardiomyopathy mrsa a fracture
below the incision costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Sometimes surgeons don't see the whole patient. In his case her back was a challenge to him but she was unable to withstand 8 1/2 hous of general anesthesia.
