14,000 people is a pretty good base to find workers in. Many factories are located in towns with 5,000 people. You have to remember all of the people living outside the immediate town too. Having a help wanted add out for a long time doesn't mean much. There are companies I have seen looking for employees all the time even when they aren't hiring. Nothing to worry about. Been there done that seen it. As for getting 2nd shift up too speed usually people are moved from first temporarily or given a supervisor job ect. as incentive and it is done quickly. After looking at the website it doesn't even look like they are hiring assemblers anymore. The production of the parts must be outsourced. From my experience medical companies are a pain in the but to make parts for because of very high standards in keeping parts clean. Getting higher production of the outsourced parts will probably be very easy in this economy.
