NexHorizon Communications Inc. said Wednesday it plans to form a Mexican-owned subsidiary to purchase the assets of Cable California S.A. and provide cable TV and high-speed services to residents in Tijuana, Mexico.

Financial details were not disclosed.

NexHorizon said it is building 1,200 miles of fiber for its cable systems in Chula Vista and National City, Calif., on the Mexican border, adjacent to Tijuana.

Calvin D. Smiley Sr., CEO of NexHorizon, said the proposed acquisition will give NexHorizon an opportunity to broaden its customer base.

“Rural communities, both in the U.S. and Latin America need and want our ultra-modern communication services, and our business plan contemplates being the leader in this field,” Smiley said in a statement.

Based in Westminster, NexHorizon is traded on the Pink Sheets under the symbol “NXHZ.”
