I think the idea of the Biocentric PBR is to use the sun light to its greatest capacity. With the design the way it is the surface of the PBR "pipes" are in direct contact with the sun hence the 180 degree turn. Stacking vertically would disrupt the surface area absorption of the design. IMO. I don't know. haha.
