The FDA is far more concerned about approving a drug that ends up doing harm than the time it takes to approve a useful drug that does no harm. The impatience here re how science is done is apparent. Given that the FDA has the scientific research for hundreds of drugs to evaluate, I don't see how the work gets done at all. And the last thing in the world they even think about is how approval will affect OUR portfolios.
