I agree that, from an ethical point of view, companies should release clinical trial results, good or bad. But from a business point of view, it can be argued that it is not self-defeating. For example, let's hypothesize that SP has had under consideration a licensing of Cortex compounds. Since some deals include an equity buy component, that could be in the mix as a possibility. Why would SP release results that could increase the share price they would have to pay as part of that equity purchase? I'm not saying that this is what is going on, just noting that there is a rationale behind BP secrecy.
