Middle East Company News

Independent aviation quality monitor Skytrax has placed Qatar Airways Inflight Entertainment as 8th best in the world, making it one of only 10 airlines in the world to be recognized in this category.

Qatar Airways' Inflight Entertainment has now joined a distinguished group of Airlines that carry the title of Best In flight Entertainment, including Virgin Atlantic, Cathay Pacific, and British Airways.

“We are absolutely delighted to have been recognized in this category. It reinforces Qatar Airways' commitment towards excellence in providing the best services possible on-board our flights,” said Mr Al Baker.

“The 8th place ranking is a strong motivation to build-on to the calibre of our services even further so that we are continually providing our passengers with a wide selection of entertainment choices.

“It recognises that Qatar Airways is at the forefront of product innovation.

“The IFE award is based on the quality of IFE hardware and software which includes screen size, clarity, selection of channels, and the selection of movies available.

“We are proud to offer our passengers the audio video on demand feature, which was a key factor in determining the results of passengers satisfaction levels.

“Qatar Airways currently offers the latest Inflight Entertainment system on board the Airbus A330. Passengers can view a selection of 32 movies and 16 short programs on their personal 10.4 inch video monitor, listen to one of 16 radio channels, or select from over 40 CD's to listen to.

“In addition to securing an 8th place position for Inflight Entertainment, Skytrax has also recently voted Qatar Airways' cabin staff as first in the Middle East region and fifth in the world. This is following the honour of being awarded the five star ranking earlier this year.

“These results certainly prove that we are on the way to becoming the best airline in the world,” said Mr Al Baker.

The 2003-2004 Best Airline Inflight Entertainment Survey received a total of 641,448 nominations during the 8 month survey period.

Qatar Airways is the national carrier of Qatar and one of the fastest growing airlines in the world. Operating from its hub in Doha, Qatar Airways presently flies to 53 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, the Indian subcontinent and the Far East. By the end of 2005 it expects to fly to 70 destinations on five continents.
