The following link references the Ag sale mentioned by Johhny.Back in January, Merrill Lynch were shopping Chemtura's Ag business and Citi were shopping their Petroleum additive biz.
However, it seems that the Ag biz is the cream of the crop (pardon the pun!). The article states:
"The sale of the crop-protection business could yield Chemtura between $700m-1bn, sources said. Potential buyers include agricultural-chemical players such as Switzerland-based Syngenta, US-based FMC, Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals and Israel’s Makeshtim Agan, sources said. Chemtura’s crop-protection business is blessed with more strategic buyers than petroleum additives,” one source said."
The article is from January 30th 2009 and here's the link:
Folks, there could be negotiations going on behind the scenes and a sale could be imminent any day. Chemtura's Ag biz is a hot commodity ("blessed with strategic buyers"...how's that for a ringing endorsement!).
Keep the faith fellow Chemturians...lift off is imminent any day:)
