Well-informed pharmas keep up with hundreds, if not thousands, of projects going on in the field with an eye to potential licensing, partnering, or competition. I simply happen to know that those companies mentioned are aware of Cortex in particular because they utilize NI's publications, which have discussed those programs at length. The real reasons for why the potential for a partnership/licensing has not yet been realized have been discussed in detail in the past.
