Scratch: The Ultimate DJ

“Being a DJ is more about taking a song that already exists and making it your own,” Lehrich says. “I really wanted to figure out a way to take some of these elements of improvisation and creativity in music making, and fuse them in with what everybody expects from this genre.”

Was guitar hero not enough for you? Did your rockband drumset break already?

Get ready,7 studios and DJ equipment manufacturer Numark unleashed Scratch: the Ultimate DJ at this years E3 Expo in Los Angeles.

Scratch: The Ultimate DJ is the newest music/rhythm game to hit the scene bringing the art of Hip Hop DJing within your reach. Armed with a wireless Numark turntable controller; you have the ability to create authentic scratches and beats – allowing you to add your own flavor to the music. No pre-loaded, simulated scratches; just pure creativity.

Enjoy your rise to fame from DJ newbie to ruler of the DJ universe with over 60 licensed Hip Hop tracks that will help you keep the crowd moving. Scratch is more than just a video game but a fun and creative DJ experience that you can share with your friends both in-person and online. With Scratch: The Ultimate DJ, the music is in your hands.

Dan Lehrich is the game’s developer and was determined to bring a game to the market with a realistic turntable style controller for users, a realistic touch that Guitar Hero and Rockband compromise on. Mixmaster Mike of the Beastie Boys is a creative and technical consultant for the project and the game features tracks from artists such as Kanye West, Deltron 3030, Run DMC, and the Far East Movement, etc. For hip hop fans with hand eye coordination and a musicians’ ear the game will be a treat; for the rest of us learning will have our hands full getting the hang of crossfades, battle records, and recording our own sound effects. The release date is scheduled for late September.

Looks like Christmas starts early this year!
