QD3 Entertainment CEO and chief creative officer Quincy Jones III recently told MTV News that they will be releasing Scratch: The Ultimate DJ game that will not just be limited to rock music as the present musical video games do, but also, urban tracks from the ’70s, ’80s and to the present popular ones. He said the Scratch game does not even have a guitar controller or drum kit as that in other hip-hop games such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

What the Scratch game has instead is a controller which will include DJ equipment like a scratch desk, CDJ turntable with realistic crossfader and MPC drum-machine-style buttons as manufactured by Numark, the largest manufacturer of real DJ equipment in the world. He added that Scratch gamers can select the samples that they want to be scratching within the game and use the crossfader to select them as similar to that when one uses a CDJ.

But what makes Jones and his co-makers of Scratch game excited is on how the game is designed to positively reward gamers whenever they use their musical creativity to make a song mix sound better.

With ‘Guitar Hero,’ you’re playing along with the songs and if you play a note different from the original you get penalized. … But with this game, if you’re playing along, at some point you get a chance to flex your own skills if you want to do a scratch solo or add a new beat to it, you can do that and get extra points,” this music entrepreneur said over mtv.com.
Already, Jones and a number of music experts are working on fine-tuning Scratch which will be made available by Genius Products on multiple next generation game systems.
