srowen is very confident that only 1 or 2 people at Google knows NeoMedia. Obviously...that is 100% incorrect. If that's the case, then Google is a very small company. Google is enormous and within their acquisition (possibly) and litigation departments, I am sure they know who NeoMedia Technologies (qode) is. They might know all the details BUT I'm sure they have come across them since they have generated products (Barcode Scanning, ZXing, etc.) that is within their space. HELLO, this is the FUTURE!!! Of course Google is ON the ball.
srowen, you are too confident on this because YOU like all of US have no idea what is to come in the future...IF you did, either it's Inside Trading, LUCKY as HELL assumption, or you are from the FUTURE. Definitely NOT from the future or else, you would have joined Google during pre-IPO like my friend who CASHED out BIG. =P So please refrain from being so CONFIDENT on what you say since I have seen you say this numerous times. Also, your distaste for NeoMedia's bright future was not part of your initial hatred of it's '048 patent because of it's "obviousness". Maybe it's obvious that people are MAD because they "obviously" did NOT think of it first. Patent was approved by the USPTO so go UP against them...NOT US! I can see why you can tie the anger together since the whole reason why you are mad is because of people having the wrong notion of your project vs. NeoMedia's IP. In the END, I appreciate your project - ZXing...it's EXCELLENT coding and I wish you the best with it (if there is anymore to it on your personal end). Also, I'm sure you are going to do GREAT after your schooling in the UK.
SO...lets just wait and see what's happens with NEOM. If they do get acquired or become partnered up with some large corporation...ONLY time will tell. I just hope it's SOMETHING and NOT NOTHING!
Well, 1 thing I know is that from what I have recently read on some boards...someone has spoken to Mike Zima and he seems very upbeat. Supposively there is some news coming out soon...can't wait.
