THAT is a complicated question. I think we discussed it a little last year. You could do a search for "tomatoes prune" or some such. Google will turn up lots of hits.

As I recall, you can prune indeterminates, but you should leave determinates strictly alone. And probably you should do it very early, before they start to flower...
