If you were investing monthly or even quarterly, do you ever get to invest more than 100% to use up the cash you didn't invest in the past? Or do you just use the % of the cash you have already set asside?

So if I have $1000 and I am adding $200 this month so I have $1200. If the formular tells me to invest 50% do I invest $100 or do I invest $600? Not sure how this plays out compared to Dollar Cost Averaging.
