after a little DD I found this...stay away bro!

May 23, 2009 (The Buffalo News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- S&K Famous Brands is the latest national retail chain to succumb to bankruptcy. The Virginia-based company will close all 105 of its S&K Menswear stores including three in Buffalo Niagara.
"In spite of our best efforts, the current economic climate left us with no choice but to close down the business. We'd like to thank all of our employees for their hard work and all of our loyal customers for their years of patronage," said Jonathan Tibus, Chief Restructuring Officer at S&K Menswear, in a prepared statement.

S&K has locations in the Walden Galleria, BJ's Plaza in Blasdell and the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls on Military Road.

Local mall managers said local S&K stores were holding steady, but fell victim to the company's national woes. That has been the case with many national chains shuttered recently. Buffalo Niagara's flat retail market has been fairly insulated, allowing stores here to fare better than elsewhere in the nation.

S&K Famous Brands, which filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in February, began liquidating 30 retail locations nationwide in March. An Eastern Hills Mall location on Transit Road in Williamsville was included in that round of store closings, with going-out-of-business sales conducted by Hilco Merchant Resources. The company sold 58 stores along with its headquarters in December.

Going-out-of-business sales began at all 105 stores Thursday and will continue until all merchandise is cleared. The liquidation is being handled by restructuring and investment firm Gordon Brothers Group, which said it will honor S&K gift cards.

S&K Menswear, founded in 1967, sells men's clothing including business, casual and formal wear. It also offers discounted designer labels and tuxedo rental.
