Today I would like to start the first of a daily post from the book (100 ways to overcome depression). this market alone, along with the negitive news of today is enough the effect even the most positive thinker out there. so for my own benefit and the other 6 people who have bookmarked this board and others that drop in, here it goes. DRAW CLOSE TO GOD. For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. - (II Chron. 16:9a). The depressed person longs to be close to someone. In this verse, God states that He is looking for people who want to know Him. God longs to be close to us! People frequently feel that in spite of their efforts they can't get close to God. In childhood, they may have failed in their attempts to become intimate with their earthly father. They assume that God is a heavenly version of their earthly father. They wrongly transfer their feelings of being rejected by their earthly father to feelings of being rejected by their heavenly Father. This passage of scripture shows us that, in reality, God is yearning for intimacy with us and even looking to and fro throughout the whole earth for those who are willing to accept intimacy with Him. He longs to show us how strong He can be in our lives if our hearts (mind,emotions,and will) are yeilded to him.
