Siptroth congratulates local manufacture for energy conservation efforts
HARRISBURG, May 15 – State Rep. John Siptroth, D-Monroe/Pike, said that Pennsylvania's efforts to boost energy conservation-related technologies, industries and jobs has helped one Monroe County technology company win a $25 million manufacturing contract.
Siptroth said DMI Manufacturing has inked a $25 million original equipment manufacturer agreement with GoIP Global Inc. The agreement between the two companies will allow GoIP Global Inc. to utilize DMI's revolutionary energy conservation technology. DMI Manufacturing produces Energy Bank Units aimed at conserving energy and lowering the costs of electrical operating systems.
"I am very pleased to have played an important role in supporting the efforts of DMI in establishing a manufacturing base for its products here in Monroe County," Siptroth said.
Siptroth explained that, since 2006, his office has been instrumental in helping connect DMI to local economic development agencies, find a location in which to manufacture and in promoting the company's technology to federal and state agencies.
He also noted that his office helped facilitate the introduction of potential investors to DMI, which ultimately resulted in the company's first major order. Siptroth said that he was thankful for the sustained efforts of Herbert Ortiz, CEO of KGB Corp. & Partners, who brokered the OEM agreement.
"It is wonderful to see the fruits of our support for technology manufacturing being realized here in Monroe County, and I am happy that DMI has decided to keep their operations here rather than going overseas," Siptroth said. "I am also pleased that this large order will result in increased production at the Burnley location with prospects for sustained employment opportunities for local workers."
Siptroth also noted that he and his colleagues in the House Democratic Caucus led the effort last session to invest $650 million to help consumers and businesses save money and conserve energy, and he plans to push for continuing that trend.
"Tomorrow’s technology is being created today by inventors and entrepreneurs like Mr. Lestician. These technologies will create the new jobs our communities need," Siptroth said. "Programs such as East Stroudsburg University's Business Accelerator Program, the Keystone Innovation Zone program and those from Ben Franklin Technology Partners have been wiped out in the Senate Republicans' proposed budget, and I will not stand by and let these critical economic development tools be discarded."
