O/T I have never been comfortable with one party controlling all three branches of government. It really screws up any possibility for checks and balances.

The standard of living in this country peaked in early 2000, and I think it will be many years before we approach that level again on a per capita basis. The population is having a very hard time adjusting to this new reality. The initially were cushioned by the availability of seemingly unlimited credit. With that gone, the truth is slowly settling in.

The only way out is greater savings and reduced spending. That's going against everything we've been doing the past 70-years, and it is easier to spin the Titanic in a circle than to change habits and expectations that are ingrained in our culture.
