I don't see it as either fight or appease. Should we move into Iran? Pakistan, etc? Where does it end? Their are ways to negotiate and offer peaceful solutions which give something back to make it worth their while to maintain peace. We need to develop and use alternative energy sources to be far less dependent on oil. We need to conserve energy instead of consuming at gluttenous levels. What this is all about is our efforts to continue to control the world's supply of oil. Do you think we care about helping the Iraque people? We supported Saddham when it seemed to meet our needs. We have a long history of supporting dictatorships and continue to do that while their people suffer. Do we send troops to help the Africans who've been slaughtered routinely in the past? We'd be their in an instant if they had oil. Bush senior was aware of the danger of moving into Iraq; his son - led by his V.P - were too grandeous and power hungry to be aware of the danger to the world of such action. It will be much more difficult to undo this mess.
