Chipguy: There were a few quotes in here that I found completely laughable but I thought I'd ask an actual chip designer for his opinion.

Well, I don't design MPUs but I have a definite opinion
on that article and author. wink

The guy is a clown. A 64 bit processor is one which
implements a 64 bit instruction set architecture (ISA).
A 64 bit ISA is one that can readily manipulate 64 bit
integers and logical addresses interchangeably. AFAIK
EM64T is more or less AMD64. So Nocona is no less
64 bit than Opteron. The talk about multiple I/O buses
and on-chip memory controllers being part of 64 bitness
is pure hogwash. The part about Intel slapping EM64T
into Nocona at the last minute is absolute stupidity. The
guy is obviously clueless.
