Robo,

I beat my head on the dynamic SMA wall until I got some fantastic help from someone over at the Yahoo Groups Excel board.

Here's the formula that I use:

=AVERAGE(INDIRECT(ADDRESS(1+ROW()-$K$5,3,4)&":"&ADDRESS(ROW(),3,4)))

My spreadsheets are (were) constructed with prices in column C (3 in the formula is to designate the 3rd column), and I use cell K5 as my cell for varying the SMA time period.

With this formula in my SMA column, I merely have to copy the formula down to the next row of data, and everything computes just fine.

If anyone seeks a great Excel resource, I strongly recommend that you head over to Yahoo Groups ( http://groups.yahoo.com ) and subscribe to the Excel board. Very helpful from the most basic to the very advanced, whatever your Excel needs are.

But as I hinted at above, who needs spreadsheets anymore when Myst and Yong have taken all of the guess and grunt work out of it!!
